Dear Families,

Thank you for all of the wonderful emails, photos, and videos. In this sad time of being apart, it’s lovely that we can communicate and share.

I’ve heard from many of you, and would like to share some thoughts.

*I think that during this time of transition, it’s best not to pressure the kids too much with regard to school work. I’m trying to send home activities that we normally do in school, so that we stick to our routine as much as possible. But if your child is having a tough time sitting still, or is pushing back, I recommend switching gears or taking a break. You can come back to these activities when the time feels right.

*I know that there are TONS of online resources. I do think it’s important to limit screen time, as hard as it is. I would be pretty picky about how your child spends his/her screen time.

With that being said, here are a couple of quality recommendations that parents have shared:

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood

Backyardigans

Khan Academy (math) https://learn.khanacademy.org/khan-academy-kids/

TumbleBooks  https://www.tumblebooklibrary.com/Home.aspx?categoryID=77  (you’ll need a library card to access this)

*Thank goodness the weather is good. As you see in the lesson plans, I’m trying to incorporate some sort of walk each day. It’s nice to hear the birds chirping and see the flowers blooming. Hopefully more outside time will be one little silver lining?
