Review A and B.

Introduce the letter C!

Introduce the sound that C makes.  (I would focus on the hard c sound, as in cat.)  You can mention that c can also say /s/, but that’s not the sound we’ll focus on, as it’s less common.

Sing

C says /c/

C says /c/

Every letter makes a sound

C says /c/

C activities to choose from:

Getting Out – Go outside and look for things that begin with C. (caterpillar, pine cone, cloud, camellia, etc)

Music – If you have access to Spotify/Apple Music, etc, check out Jim Gill’s children’s music. A great song for today is Hands are for Clapping.

Math – Counting! Today, focus on counting items to 5.

Literacy – Read a book with a C character.

Snack – Cranberries? Crackers? Hot Cocoa? Carrots?

Baking – Bake together?  Cookies? Cornbread?

Outside – Play catch. Teach your child how to crab walk.

Perhaps listen to some Bach? Beethoven?

Literacy – Read a book with a B character.

Registration information – September 15th-November 15th is the priority application period for parish and current school families for next school year (September 2020-June 2021).  If you have a Kindergarten or new Preschool (2s, 3s, PreK) student that you would like to enroll into Holy Rosary School, applications are now due.  Current P2s and P3s students will complete re-enrollment in January.  Applications are only for Kindergarten and New Preschool students.  Holy Rosary prioritizes siblings, but we cannot allocate a spot for your student if we do not have an application by November 15th.  Our Fall Open House is November 2nd, 10am-1pm.  Any questions, please contact admissions@holyrosaryws.org – Thank you!

Tauna and Sara gone 10/4 – I want to let you know that next Friday, 10/4, for the first time in ten years, Sara and I will both be gone. Sara is taking her daughter to visit colleges, and I will be traveling back to Parent Weekend at my children’s college. Tammy, Sister, and a substitute will be in charge. Both Tammy and Sister have been coming in during class to get to know the children so they feel comfortable that day.  We do apologize.  Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

HRS Picture Day is Tuesday, 9/17.  As you know, we are not in class on Tuesdays. You are welcome to bring your child up to the “Big School” at any time Tuesday morning for his/her photo.  (We will be there from about 8:45-9:00 with P3 and from about 12:20-12:40 with Pre-K, if you’d like to try to come during a window when we are there)  This is totally optional for you.  The photos are used for the yearbook and for your purchase, but we can easily take a photo of your child at another time if this doesn’t work into your schedule. As always, email me if you have questions.

September 9, 2019

Welcome to our first week of preschool!  It was such a pleasure getting to meet all of you during Parent Night and Meet the Teacher Day.  We are so excited to get to teach your child!

Please remember that for this first week, as the children begin to adjust to school, class will be held from 8:30 – 10:00.  Starting on 9/16, we will go from 8:30 – 11:00.

Proper preschool attire and potty time –We ask that you be sure to send your child to school in clothing that they are able to take off and on by themselves for potty time.  Elastic waistbands are perfect for this age. We also ask that you talk to your child at home regarding help with wiping, as this is not something that we are able to assist them with at preschool.  Something that works well for a lot of children is to be sure to leave time for “potty time” at home before coming to school.  Some type of pull up diaper is perfectly fine if you are concerned they may have an accident.

CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES

This first week, we will primarily focus on establishing classroom routines, becoming familiar with the environment, and getting to know each other.

Picture retake day is Thursday, October 25.  If you did not have your child’s photo taken last time and would like to, you can pick up a form and go to the big school on Thursday morning between 8 and 10 a.m. (this is an option available to you, but certainly not required)

Holy Rosary Trick or Treat – A couple of parents have asked me about this event since it begins during our class time.  I think that taking the kids up as a group would feel overwhelming to them, so suggest that you consider taking your child after class.  Feel free to get him/her changed into the costume here in the preschool after class.

Conference Week – There will be no class on November 19 due to parent conferences and Thanksgiving.  Our P2 conferences will be held in January.  More information will be available to you after the holidays.

September 23, 2018

What a great week it has been.  These darling children are settling right in.  They are remarkably good listeners and are working particularly hard to learn to share our preschool toys.  We are just loving them!

A huge welcome to our new student, Annie and her parents Kimberly and Bryan.  She is so excited to join our class and will be following her sister Ella and her brother Luke.

September 10, 2018

Welcome to our first week of preschool!  It was such a pleasure getting to meet all of you during Parent Night and Meet the Teacher Day.  We are so excited to get to teach your child!

Please remember that for this first week, as the children begin to adjust to school, class will be held from 8:30 – 10:00.  Starting on 9/17, we will go from 8:30 – 11:00.

Please refer to the “First Day Jitters” note that you received this week. It really does have some great tips for the first day of school.

This first week, we will primarily focus on establishing classroom routines, becoming familiar with the environment, and getting to know each other

On Friday 9/14, I will miss school. I apologize for the timing!  (It is Parent Weekend at my son’s college.) Sara, Sister, and Tammy will be with the children and I know they’ll have a great day.

We can’t wait to get started on Monday!

I am including the email regarding a possible class change from 3/30 to 3/29. Please let me know if this will work for you or not. Thanks so much!

Friday, March 30 is our next scheduled “Double Class Day”, where P2 and Pre-K are both scheduled to meet in the morning. (We have 4 of these days each year due to noon dismissal at the Big School.  This enables Pre-K to have class and not miss a day of school.)

We have a slight conflict on the 30th. Teacher Sara will be out of town that day.  I wonder if it would be possible for you to bring your children to class on Thursday, March 29, rather than Friday, March 30 (Good Friday).  This way, I would be with the P2 kids and Teacher Sara would be with the P3 class. Sister would float between both classes. Our thinking is that this way, all children would be with familiar teachers and we would not need to call in outside substitutes.

If this does not work for you, absolutely no worries. I know it’s a long shot, but thought I would toss out the idea.  Please let me know if this will work for you or not and I will let you know the final decision once I’ve heard from everyone.

To confirm, we would be switching our P2 class from Friday, 3/30 to Thursday, 3/29.  We will need this to work comfortably for all of our P2 families in order to proceed with this idea.

Enjoy the week!

Picture retake day is Thursday, October 26. If you did not have your child’s photo taken last time and would like to, you can pick up a form and go to the big school on Thursday morning.

Enjoy the week!

Enjoy the week!
