Dear families,
I am so sorry that all of this is happening and that we will not be together for a while. I know that this creates complicated situations for all of you. Please tell your children that we teachers miss them and love them and can’t wait to see them soon.
I want to fill you in on our plan for the closure.
P2 – since our program is play-based, we will not be sending lessons home, but rather encourage you to play, read, and take advantage of our lovely outdoor options.
P3 – I will be sending a lesson plan on each scheduled class day.
Pre-K – I will be sending a lesson plan on each scheduled class day.
I am attaching a link from the American Academy of Pediatrics with screen time recommendations, in case you are interested: https://www.aap.org/en-us/about-the-aap/aap-press-room/news-features-and-safety-tips/Pages/Children-and-Media-Tips.aspx
I am available every day. If you would like to talk, (or if your child would like to FaceTime!) just email me and I’ll get you my cell number! Or, of course, we can always communicate via email.
In addition, I wanted to officially tell you about Teacher Tammy. She is expecting a baby in September! We’re all so happy for her! We sure will miss her. Her gentle, calm demeanor has been a blessing to us. As we move forward, however, we’d like to get the word out that we will be hiring a replacement upon return to school. Let me know if you are interested or know of someone who is. (Personally, I think that working in our preschool is an absolute dream job!) Here is the job posting:
Holy Rosary School, Seattle, is seeking an Instructional Assistant to work in our preschool for the remainder of the 2019-2020 year and continuing into the 2020-21 school year. Position will start as soon as it is filled.
A successful candidate will have experience working with school age children, preferably in a school setting, and preferably is a practicing Catholic. The candidate should have excellent communication and organizational skills, be a problem solver, and be adaptable to different teaching styles and different student learning styles. The instructional assistant will assist in the preschool supervising students, leading small groups, assisting the teachers with projects as assigned, and providing recess supervision.
The instructional assistant’s work schedule follows the school calendar, and hours are as follows: Tuesday-Thursday 8:15-3:15, Monday and Wednesday 11:30 – 3:15.
In addition to completing the Applitrack application found on the Archdiocese of Seattle Catholic Schools website, interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to Principal Anna Horton, ahorton@holyrosaryws.org.
Again, reach out anytime. I’m here for you throughout the closure and always. Love and big hugs to your children!
