What a wonderful first week of preschool! Sister, Sara, and I feel absolutely blessed to have the opportunity to teach them this year. This week, we will continue to work on getting used to classroom routines.
When you come to preschool on Tuesday, we ask that you help your child wash his or her hands, sign them in, and have them find their nametag on the blue table and place the nametag in the pocket chart in the classroom.
Contact Information – Always feel free to contact me with questions or concerns that may arise. Email is best at tevans@holyrosaryws.org. The emergency phone number is (206)937-7255. If you need to get in touch with us during class, please call this number and the office will contact us via intercom.
Health & Safety – In an effort to keep everyone healthy, we have a 24 hour fever-free policy at Holy Rosary. Please be sure that your child is fever free for an entire 24 hour period before sending him/her back to school after an illness.
Proper preschool attire and potty time –Some buttons, snaps and zippers can be difficult for little hands to handle themselves. We ask that you be sure to send your child to school in clothing that they are able to take off and on by themselves for potty time. Elastic waistbands are perfect for this age. We also ask that you talk to your child at home regarding help with wiping, as this is not something that we are able to assist them with at preschool. Something that works well for a lot of children is to be sure to leave time for “potty time” at home before coming to school. Some type of pull up diaper is perfectly fine if you are concerned they may have an accident.
Water Bottles – Please send a water bottle to school with your child each day.
Jackets/Toys – Please be sure to send your child to school with a jacket or sweater (clearly labeled with his or her name), as we will be going outside each day. We ask that your child please not bring toys to school. We have an amazing assortment of stimulating manipulatives and play items. We do not want any personal items lost or broken.
Family Photo – Please bring a photo of your family for our front bulletin board, if you have not already.
Individual Photos – A photo form is now in your child’s file. Please complete and bring it with you on photo day.
CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES –
Literacy – We begin our discovery of colors and shapes through stories, songs, and poems.
Math – Number recognition, counting, and shape recognition
Second Step – Listening The Listening Rules Song
Eyes are watching, Ears are listening, Voices quiet, Bodies calm, This is how we listen, This is how we listen, At group time, At group time.
Faith Formation –
Children are able to identify the Bible as the Holy Book, which contains the Story of God’s Creation and of Jesus’ life. They are also able state that God created the world and each of us because he loves us.
God in Heaven hear my prayer,
Keep me in thy loving care.
Be my guide in all I do,
Bless all those who love me too.
Amen
